The Exchange Coach House Inn
was built in the 1760's as a Georgian town house, right in the centre
of Brigg, a bustling market town. It was turned into a Gentleman's Club
in Victorian times and a hall built on the rear to house a billiard table
(still in use
though in a different location within the hotel complex). During the Second World War, Sir Winston Churchill stayed at the club when visiting secret installations in the area. The Exchange, as it is known locally, is a Grade II Star listed building which has been fully restored back to its former glory, a mixture of Edwardian and Victorian splendour, by the present owner after buying the building from the fromer club trustees in the early 1980's. After an initial period of retaining its Gentleman's club status, in 1990 the stables and carriage houses were rebuilt as the bedrooms in their present form. Situated conveniently for Humberside International Airport (5 miles), North Lincolnshire companies can be reached within 15 minutes, with Hull, Lincoln and Doncaster just half an hour away, and just five minutes from Humberside International Airport. The hotel is designed for the more discerning business traveller or tourist with additional facilities available such as Fax, Photography and secretarial services. There are many tourist attractions close by with six golf course within a ten mile radius. |
